Something to think about

What do you do to make well-being an integral part of your life?

Well-being is often looking at the physical aspects of being human, but what about all the other aspects?
Emotional, psychological or spiritual well-being. To live life in its fullest potential takes integration of all dimensions of life experience to be nurtured and valued.

Cultures in history directed a connection between body, mind, and spirit, recognizing that each of those aspects are a part of the whole. Now, with the advancement in technology, the curiosity of science and development in health psychology, the modern world is beginning to recognize that health is influenced, not only by the physical facet, but also the spiritual, psychological, and emotional dimensions.

Anyone who has experienced a life situation that triggers an emotional response, knows that the emotion is felt within the physical. Feelings of loss, anger, fear or frustration, can all show up as pain in the body, tension in the throat or fire in the belly. What about the psychological imprints of past situations that are held within the body, that sit there like a dormant volcano waiting to erupt. The ripple from the spiritual facets of life expression is also exposed when neglected, a sensation of disconnection or being alone can be experienced. How do you look after all facets of your expression?

Opening to the concept that all facets of you affect the next and any limitations within any of the aspects affect the flow, in turn,  optimum living experience.

To sustain, grow and develop a full life experience that opens to the experience of potentiality, polishing and developing all dimensions of you is necessary. A bit like polishing a rough diamond, for the bounce of light to do its work, the uniqueness of that diamond gets to shine when a fine polish and focus is given.

‘If a man is to live, he must be all alive, body, soul, mind, heart and spirit.’ Thomas Merton

How to polish your own diamond and create flow in all?

Physical wellbeing

Your physical body is the instrument and frame which expresses all aspects of being human. It is the tool and form that allows you to experience life through the window of your 5 senses. Its development and functioning is the reflection of those dimensions and those dimension’s filter and express themselves through your body. The physical also includes, the environment in which you choose to show up.

Emotional Well-being

Your emotional dimension is comprised of all your past, present, and future emotional experiences. Energy in motion, the gift of being human, the building blocks of anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt, frustration, joy, excitement, resentment, jealousy, and shame. Whenever you have an experience, it generates a biochemical reaction creating feelings that are associated with past similar experiences. Emotions and memories flow in their rivers of response and they influence how you react to life situations.

As energy flows, down from the psyche into the emotional dimension, it can merge with the rivers from the past and create rough waters. Stored emotive weights/blocks can come from the past, which haven’t been processed, projecting again and again into your life situations.

The emotions of happiness, joy, love, peace and gratitude, produce a biochemical mix that supports wellbeing. Stress, anger, fear, anxiety create a biochemical mix, when produced often, cause dis-ease.

Bringing practices into life that support a biochemical reaction within your state for wellbeing, is where your body can work at its optimum for regeneration, renewal and reinvigoration.

Psychological well-being

Your psyche is the dimension of beliefs, values, thoughts, convictions that frame the way you see the world. These are passed down through DNA, your culture, developed in your life experience through life situations, and filter into your emotive responses affecting your drives, incentives and how you show up to life.

As all energy flows, when balance is within all facets flow will be in your life, when there is a disconnection or imbalance, compulsive reactions to life experience can keep you stuck, resistant and fixed. Fixed states keep you in your comfort zone and are usually unconscious. Developing psychological growth serves in the development of the whole human experience.

  4. Develop skill sets, keep open to learning

Spiritual well-being

The spiritual dimension is your connection to source. Maybe you view this closely to religion or define it within atoms and energy particles or frame it around the word of spirituality. This energy trickles down through spiritual dimension from source, and affects every other aspect of your expression. Developing a practice that offers development within the subtler realms of human experience, is important to maintain or develop awareness of that connection. Bringing practices that awaken awareness into your conscious mind, allows a sense of connection and unification of life to be experienced. Although all parts affect the whole the spiritual development is the most influential on all other parts. It is the foundation of expression.

Practices for spiritual development:

  1. Practice meditation daily
  2. Be part of a group to discuss and guide
  3. Learn to work understand energy practices (through systems such as Huna, Reiki, kinesiology, chi gong, and acupuncture)
  4. Study consciousness, religion, or philosophy
  5. Pray
  6. Go on a retreat
  7. Listen to music
  8. Connect with an art
  9. Spend time in nature alone

Flow of energy can run through every dimension of your experience, every facet of your development can move through the stepping stones to create a full life experience. Integrating and development of all of you, creates harmony and balance within the whole system, supports coherence of the heart/mind/body/spirit for awakening of clarity, fulfilment, happiness and freedom.
